It's been nearly six months since the news broke that Olivia Rose Keegan (Claire Brady) would be exiting Days of our Lives. Now, the Emmy-nominated actress has taken to social media to say goodbye.
"Dear Days of Our Lives, Thank you for the best 4 years of my life," Keegan wrote as a caption to a photo of her character chucking up the deuces from a hospital bed. "To everyone who watches the show: I cannot thank you enough for sticking with Claire through the good, bad, and batsh*t. Reading everyone's comments/tweets this past week has been the most overwhelmingly amazing thing -- It means more than you know."
Any long-time soap fan knows that exiting performers often get some of the meatiest material leading up to -- and often including -- their final scenes. That was definitely the case for Keegan, who offered specific thanks to the DAYS writing team for scripting her descent into mental illness.
"I also owe a huge thank you to the @nbcdays writers for giving me an opportunity to dig my nails into some fascinating material with this past storyline -- as well as shine a light onto mental health awareness," Keegan added. "It would be too difficult to explain how much I love every single person in my @nbcdays family. It was a 4 year dream. I met lifelong friends, learned an infinite amount, and simply loved every minute of it."
Keegan ended her post with a "[f]arewell from Salem's newest pyro."
Many of Keegan's costars took time to say goodbye.
"My lil pyro niece, Salem will never be the same," Victoria Konefal (Ciara Brady) wrote. "Love you to pieces, and one of those dangly stars is still in the hallway so you're always with us. Also you're always in my heart without the dangly star -- you are a star. THE star of our lives."
"You're incredible and lovely and hilarious and kind and sweet and... amazing x infinity!" Martha Madison (Belle Black) shared.
"Love you girl," added Lucas Adams (Tripp Dalton). "Setting the world on [fire] one lighter at a time!"
Former DAYS star Marci Miller offered Keegan high praise, saying, "You will be unstoppable."
Keegan took on the role of DAYS' Claire in 2015, when the fictional teen moved back to Salem from Hong Kong. During her four-year run on the NBC soap, Keegan was pre-nominated for a Daytime Emmy four times. She earned nominations in the Outstanding Younger Actress category in both 2018 and 2019. In addition to acting, Keegan is also a real-life musician who goes by the name of Liv Keegan in the music world. She's released several songs over the past two years, including King Is A Queen and Just My Type.
