Holy smokes! The one thing Days of our Lives fans never thought would happen is indeed happening: Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso are stepping back into their roles as Bo and Hope Brady!
The NBC soap opera announced that the beloved pair will be appearing in the upcoming second season of Beyond Salem, the spinoff special that hit Peacock last year. Five new episodes are heading viewers' way beginning Monday, July 11th, with one new episode dropping daily on Peacock TV through July 15.
The first season of Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem was super action-packed, with Salemites running around in globe-trotting adventures centered around stolen jewels. Believe it or not, an official press release teases that the second season of Beyond Salem will be even bigger!
"In an epic, action-packed tale that spans the entire globe, from Monte Carlo to Hong Kong, beloved characters from Days of our Lives once again go 'Beyond Salem!' as they trade the comforts of home for an adventure of a lifetime," previews the release. "Over the course of five thrilling episodes, heartwarming family reunions take a dangerous turn as a mysterious adversary wreaks havoc on their lives. The next chapter of Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem is [a] story full of larger-than-life romance, jaw-dropping twists, and high-stakes drama -- and it all connects back to a plot that long-time 'DOOL' fans will surely remember."
In addition to Reckell's Bo and Alfono's Hope, the second iteration of Beyond Salem will include Deidre Hall as Dr. Marlena Evans, Drake Hogestyn as John Black, Stephen Nichols as Steve "Patch" Johnson, Mary Beth Evans as Kayla Brady Johnson, Lucas Adams as Tripp Johnson, Camila Banus as Gabi Hernandez, Victoria Konefal as Ciara Brady, Robert Scott Wilson as Ben Weston, and Remington Hoffman as Li Shin.
"We are beyond thrilled to be partnering with Peacock again to produce a second chapter of Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem," said DAYS executive producer Ken Corday. "Being able to build off of the storylines from Days of our Lives to create another exciting series for the audience brings myself, the Corday Productions team, and the cast so much joy. I cannot wait for the fans to see what we have in store next!"
Peter Reckell originated the character of Bo Brady on May 9, 1983. He played the character on-again, off-again until retiring from the role in 2016. Back in August of last year, rumors swirled that he would be returning to DAYS for a one-week stint, but the actor set the record straight by sharing that while he missed Bo, he was not heading back to Salem.
Kristian Alfonso began playing Hope Williams Brady in 1983 and, outside of two brief breaks in the late 80s and early 90s, remained with the NBC soap opera until October 2020, when she chose to exit. Alfonso revealed at the time that her decision to walk away from DAYS was prompted by executive producer Ken Corday telling her earlier in the year that Hope would be off camera for four to five months.
Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem follows DAYS' previous spinoffs, a 2019 digital series called Chad and Abby in Paris that starred Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi; the 2020 digital series Last Blast Reunion that starred Brandon Beemer (Shawn Brady), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane), Jay Kenneth Johnson (Philip Kiriakis), and Martha Madison (Belle Brady); and the 2021 holiday film A Very Salem Christmas.
