Judith Light, who jet-started her acting career with her Emmy-winning portrayal of One Life to Live hooker Karen Wolek, likely took a trip down memory lane while preparing for her latest film. The actress plays a soap opera star in the current Sundance hit Before You Know It.
The quirky film follows sisters Rachel (Hannah Pearl Utt) and Jackie (Jen Tullock), who still live in their childhood home with their eccentric playwright father (Mandy Patinkin). The sisters' day-to-day dysfunction gets a serious boost when they find out their presumed-dead mother (Light) is not only alive but (gasp!) thriving as a daytime soap actress.
Unlike her OLTL days, where Light made the decision to leave the ABC soap opera, Before You Know It stars the actress as Sherrell Gearhardt, whose character on the long-running Time Will Tell is in jeopardy of being written out. As reported by ET, when Rachel and Jackie visit the set and confront their mother, the entire family must try to come of age.
Before You Know It was written by Utt and Tullock and directed by the former. It had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and opens in theaters on Friday, August 30. Check out the film's trailer below and let us know what you think in the Comments section at the end of the article.
