Jacob Aaron Gaines says he is honored to play The Young and the Restless' Moses Winters, as it gives him the opportunity to show viewers a little piece of the character's father, Neil, played by the late Kristoff St. John.

The Young and the Restless is carrying on the legacy of Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) with the recent return of the character's son Moses. And new portrayer Jacob Aaron Gaines says it is a huge honor to be part of such a special Genoa City family.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, the young actor revealed that Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) sat him down and filled him in on the life and death of beloved Y&R star St. John, who passed away in 2019.

"It's a very sad story but I'm honored to be playing Neil's son and to show Y&R fans a little piece of him. I'm thrilled to be able to do that," Gaines shares. "Kristoff's story hit me pretty hard and I'm sure I won't understand the true gravity of it until I'm further into playing Moses. For now, it's a huge privilege for me."

As for what fans can expect from Moses now that he's a young adult, Gaines reveals that he was initially attracted to the role because "he seemed to be a nice and humble kid, really driven and motivated."

What's more, Moses will be a true friend to Faith (currently played by Alyvia Alyn Lind, soon to be played by Reylynn Caster), who has been dealing with online bullying and underage drinking.

"I was told that Moses wants to be a doctor, so he's trying to charm Faith at the coffeehouse and make sure she's okay," Gaines explains. "He has a soft spot for her and won't let anyone push her around."
